Yes! Registered Dietitians are covered under most extended health benefit plans. Contact your provider to find out if you are covered.
No, since we are a private practice we do not require a referral from a doctor.
Dietitians are regulated health professionals with a protected title similar to doctors, nurses and pharmacists. They have formal education, clinical training, a reputable degree and have passed a national registration exam. The term "nutritionist" is less regulated and is not a protected title in all provinces across BC.
All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians.
A dietitian is a healthcare professional who specializes in food, nutrition, and the science of how diet affects health. Dietitans will assess your nutritional needs, medical history, lifestyle habits, current health concerns, review lab work and more. Based on this assessment, dietitians will conceptualize the case and create a nutrition care plan to best support you and your goals. This might include meal plans, education, nutrition counselling and emotional support. Dietitians will not just give you a list of what/what not to eat, we help guide you along the way providing regular ongoing support.
Our areas of practice include eating disorders/disordered eating, gut health, chronic disease management (diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, osteoporosis etc), women's health, prenatal/pregnancy nutrition, balanced eating, meal planning, overall health and wellness optimization and more.

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed appointment leaves a hole in the Dietitian's day that could have been filled by another client. As such, we require 24 hours notice for any cancellations to your appointments. This policy ensures we can respect everyone’s time, including clients on our waiting list.
